1بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Translations

रात की क़सम जब (सूरज को) छिपा ले

Wallaili izaa yaghshaa

By the night when it covers

2وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Translations

और दिन की क़सम जब ख़ूब रौशन हो

Wannahaari izaa tajalla

And [by] the day when it appears

3وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

Translations

और उस (ज़ात) की जिसने नर व मादा को पैदा किया

Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa

And [by] He who created the male and female,

4إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Translations

कि बेशक तुम्हारी कोशिश तरह तरह की है

Inna sa'yakum lashattaa

Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

5فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

Translations

तो जिसने सख़ावत की और अच्छी बात (इस्लाम) की तस्दीक़ की

Fa ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa

As for he who gives and fears Allah

6وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Translations

तो हम उसके लिए राहत व आसानी

Wa saddaqa bil husnaa

And believes in the best [reward],

7فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Translations

(जन्नत) के असबाब मुहय्या कर देंगे

Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa

We will ease him toward ease.

8وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

Translations

और जिसने बुख्ल किया, और बेपरवाई की

Wa ammaa mam bakhila wastaghnaa

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

9وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Translations

और अच्छी बात को झुठलाया

Wa kazzaba bil husnaa

And denies the best [reward],

10فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Translations

तो हम उसे सख्ती (जहन्नुम) में पहुँचा देंगे,

Fasanu yassiruhoo lil'usraa

We will ease him toward difficulty.

11وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

Translations

और जब वह हलाक होगा तो उसका माल उसके कुछ भी काम न आएगा

Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

12إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Translations

हमें राह दिखा देना ज़रूर है

Inna 'alainaa lal hudaa

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

13وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْءَاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Translations

और आख़ेरत और दुनिया (दोनों) ख़ास हमारी चीज़े हैं

Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

14فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًۭا تَلَظَّىٰ

Translations

तो हमने तुम्हें भड़कती हुई आग से डरा दिया

Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

15لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

Translations

उसमें बस वही दाख़िल होगा जो बड़ा बदबख्त है

Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

16ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Translations

जिसने झुठलाया और मुँह फेर लिया और जो बड़ा परहेज़गार है

Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa

Who had denied and turned away.

17وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

Translations

वह उससे बचा लिया जाएगा

Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa

But the righteous one will avoid it -

18ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Translations

जो अपना माल (ख़ुदा की राह) में देता है ताकि पाक हो जाए

Allazee yu'tee maalahoo yatazakkaa

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

19وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍۢ تُجْزَىٰٓ

Translations

और लुत्फ ये है कि किसी का उस पर कोई एहसान नहीं जिसका उसे बदला दिया जाता है

Wa maa li ahadin 'indahoo min ni'matin tujzaaa

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

20إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Translations

बल्कि (वह तो) सिर्फ अपने आलीशान परवरदिगार की ख़ुशनूदी हासिल करने के लिए (देता है)

Illab tighaaa'a wajhi rabbihil a 'laa

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.

21وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Translations

और वह अनक़रीब भी ख़ुश हो जाएगा

Wa lasawfa yardaa

And he is going to be satisfied.

Surah Al-Lail (92/114)
